I have finished my training! I am now a Kentucky Court of Justice Family Mediator!

I have finished my training and have completed the requirements to become a Kentucky Court of Justice Family Mediator.  I began my training at the Appalachian Peace Center (APC) in Winchester, Kentucky.  Kim Castle leads the training and there were several guest lecturers who assisted along the way. After completing 40 hours of training at the APC, I then was supervised for 15 more hours (four separate sessions for four couples) by R. Gary Lowen, of Louisville, Kentucky.  On June 13, 2011, I submitted by application to be placed on the Family Mediator Roster by the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts.

I plan on taking on new clients after July 5, 2011, at our new office location - 105 North First Street, in LaGrange, Kentucky.  To schedule an appointment, you may call 502-565-4440.  Most cases accepted are already in litigation in Family Court, but it is not a requirement.  A range of issues can be covered in mediation - parenting time (sometimes called "timesharing"), child custody, school choice, child support, maintenance (alimony), property division, debt division, or any other issue that affects a family that could lead to litigation in the courts.

Although I will be available to mediate in any of the 120 counties in Kentucky (if travel is involved, the parties will have to pay a travel expense charge), most of the mediations will be for people who live in the following Kentucky counties (as these are close):  Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Shelby, Spencer, Anderson, Bullitt, and Carroll.

I am very happy that I am now qualified to do this.
